How to get into ice photography

Watching the BBC’s Operation Iceberg on TV tonight, it has re-inspired me to look at options how to get involved in ice photography, e.g. in support of research, adventure photography, ‘extreme’ photography, etc. Icebergs are stunning, and I am always amazed by glaciers and the general Arctic/Antarctic environments.

Anyone got any pointers?
