Well, I have a nice dilemma – I am looking to upgrade to a new lens. I would like to get the Canon 70-200 f2.8 L IS, but cannot justify the cost. So I am looking at either the Canon 70-200 f4 L IS or the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 OS…
I am mainly a landscape photographer and so am not overly constrained by the ‘need’ to have f2.8, but just have a nigle that I would ‘like’ to have it ‘just in case’ – e.g. the occasional inside photo or need for faster lens. I have heard that the Canon f4 L IS can take good enough photos inside – any views?
Would welcome your comments and experience of either of these lenses, and for landscape photography primarily.
UPDATE – 2nd September 2012 – I decided to go for the Canon 70-200 F4 L IS. The benefits of the construction and image quality for outside photography and trekking through the hills, as well as the weight swung it for me. I see myself using f4 and smaller appertures a lot more than f2.8 and so that is the way I went!
